march 23, 2011. bonne anniversaire!

it’s hard to believe that one year ago today, i found myself seeking a creative outlet to channel all of my inspirations into one place.  while some months saw more visual imagery than others, it didn’t mean that my creative process was halted. i literally see projects, ideas and images to be stored for future ideas, and having a ‘diary’ has been not just my own personal archive but therapeutic.

speaking about archives, i would be remiss not to mention that i have a definite affinity for old photographs. there is something about looking at not just images from my own personal album but other people’s memories that sparks a chord. is is a reference to culture, tradition and history. a marker for how far we have traveled and how far we have to go. perhaps it is the monochromatic palette of the rounded photograph (circa 1960-80) that brings a smile to my face or the distance between the subject and the shooter. remember back in the day when you would take a photograph but stand about 200 feet away from your subject in the hopes of getting not just the full body but the entire surrounding? a sweet reminder of the old days.

bonne anniversaire, photo test.
