as you may or may not know, i have been wanting to get my hands on a copy of a drum magazine, specifically an early issue. well, i am happy to report that images from the first 40 years have been released by the bailey’s african history archive and are available for purchase! this archive houses the vast histories of anglophone africans, culture - politics. in march 1951 drum magazine produced its first publication, providing true insight into the daily life of south africans under apartheid.
